Simpson Grierson, one of New Zealand’s premier commercial law firms, is seeking a Clients & Markets Director to lead the firm’s national marketing and business development function. This senior executive position reports directly to the Managing Partner and is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the strategic direction of BD and marketing at a firm known for excellence, innovation, and people-first values. The role has two key mandates: (1) to lead a high-performing marketing team and (2) to work closely with the Executive and Board to drive client-centric, market-leading strategies that support the firm’s continued growth and positioning.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Leading the firm’s BD and marketing strategy, including sector and practice initiatives
- Partnering with the Managing Partner on firm-wide strategic planning and implementation
- Overseeing reputation management, media, and brand development
- Driving client experience programmes, tenders, key account planning, and CRM strategy
- Mentoring and empowering a skilled team of BD, communications, and events professionals
The ideal candidate will bring:
- 12+ years’ experience in business development, marketing or strategic leadership (professional services preferred)
- Strong commercial acumen and client focus
- Experience advising senior stakeholders, including boards and partners
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and complex projects
- A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. BCom, LLB)
